Privacy policy
Last updated October 25, 2026
PuckQL ("we", "us") is a website that answers hockey statistics questions. This policy explains what information we collect when you use puckql.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password itself.
- Your questions and answers. The questions you ask and the answers PuckQL gives are saved to your account so you can revisit them. You can delete any chat at any time from the sidebar.
- Approximate location. Our host, Cloudflare, tells us the approximate region of your IP address. We use it only to suggest a local team on the home screen, and we do not store it. If you pick a favourite team, we save that choice to your account.
- Usage information. How many questions you ask each day (to apply the daily limit), and basic technical data such as your IP address, which is used briefly to prevent abuse such as repeated sign-in attempts.
- Cookies. A single essential cookie keeps you signed in. Advertising cookies may be set by Google, as described below.
How we use it
- To run your account, sign you in, and send emails you ask for, such as email confirmation and password resets.
- To answer your questions. Your question text is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate the answer. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its models.
- To keep the service secure and to enforce usage limits.
- To show advertising on the free version of PuckQL.
We do not sell your personal information.
Advertising
The free version of PuckQL shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and can change that choice at any time.
Service providers
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores your account and chats, and sends our emails.
- Anthropic provides the AI model that writes answers.
- Stripe processes Pro subscription payments. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored by PuckQL; we keep only your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and the subscription status.
- Google provides advertising and web fonts.
- NHL public data services supply hockey statistics. Player photos and team logos, when shown, load directly from NHL servers. PuckQL is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NHL.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and chats until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Daily usage counts are deleted after about a week, and sign-in sessions expire after 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You can delete individual chats at any time. To delete your account, or to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, email us at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to access, correct or delete your data.
Children
PuckQL is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
